Let's take moment to appreciate fruit bowls, shall we? Yes, this is a post all about fruit bowls. I'm not going to go off on a tangent and talk about something productive or useful this time. If you want to read something that fills your head with new knowledge or deep thoughts about the world, go check another post. If you want to read about fruit bowls, you're in the right place 😁️.
In truth, I never really thought about fruit bowls until recently. One day, I went to a restaurant, and I was looking through their sides. I wanted to pick something more healthy that time, so there it was, a fruit bowl, and I ordered it. This event left such an impression on me that I have been thinking about fruit bowls every day since. Must I say 😋️ it was delicious? I'll say it then. Buying a fruit bowl that day was an excellent decision and I loved ❤️ it.
I was excited to visit that restaurant after that. Naturally, I did order their fruit bowl again the next time I went. Of course, other restaurants have fruit bowls too. Recently, I went to a different restaurant and ordered a fruit bowl. Wouldn't you know it, not all fruit bowls are the same. I was disappointed to find only grapes and a few strawberries this time. I suppose putting two different types of fruits in a bowl is the bare minimum that you can do to call it a fruit bowl. If you only put grapes in the bowl, it would be a grape bowl, wouldn't it? Still, I'm thinking, come on now restaurant. You can do better than that. It could be that fruit bowls just aren't that popular and not enough people are ordering them. Maybe that's partly why I'm ranting about them. I want to promote fruit bowls in general. Let's get people excited about fruit. Imagine how healthy you might feel eating a bowl of fruits. Let's go!
You don't have to wait to go to a restaurant to get a fruit bowl either. What's that? You don't know how to make a fruit bowl? Hey, this is about the easiest thing. Before, I would have never considered buying cantaloupe at the grocery store, or honeydew. These big melons, I think, when would I eat all that fruit? And this is just the trick, you don't eat a whole melon by itself. Cut up that cantaloupe and that honeydew into chunks. You could add kiwi, apple, grapes, strawberries, pineapples, depending on what fruits you like. Mix up the chunks into a small bowl. There you have it, fruit bowl. Get some sealed containers you can throw into your lunch box when you pack for lunch. You're welcome.
You'll notice I said cantaloupe and honeydew right up front. To me, these are just the most important things to put in a fruit bowl. I mean, if you are only going to pick 2 fruits, those should be it. Don't just pick 2 though. You need some 4 different kinds of fruits. The harder bits work better, in my opinion, because you can mix them up well and you get an even texture. The important thing is that you pick fresh fruits. Naturally, they need all be fresh to end up with a delicious fruit bowl. Apples can be a tricky pick because they do tend to turn brown after a time. To avoid that, the important thing is to not prepare it too far in advance.
Now about the kiwis. You might be skeptical. Let me say, I had kiwi in my fruit bowl just today, and it was perfect. Kiwi fits right in with the rest of the fruits. If you don't usually care for kiwi by itself, why, just try it as part of a fruit bowl. You might think, what's the difference if it's in a fruit bowl? I'm telling you, it makes all the difference. When the fruits and mixed up, and you finish eating one, then the taste of that one fruit gets mixed in with the taste of the other fruits while you are eating them. That's what makes fruit bowls great. Not just the taste of the individual fruits, but the taste of all the fruits together. For example, pineapple can have a somewhat tart taste to it. Also, if you eat too many raw pineapple pieces by themselves it can hurt your mouth. At least, it does for me. Having them in a fruit bowl, however, now there's the thing. You're eating a bit of cantaloupe. You have a strawberry. Bam, the pineapple comes. They all come together in a symphony of fruit taste. Is your mouth watering yet? I just finished my fruit bowl and I'm already craving more. One at a time, Jason, one at a time. The world is not running out of fruits.
Of course, there's another aspect of fruit bowls that must be discussed, aside from the fruit itself. You can have all the greatest fruits, but where are you going to put them? Would you place them all in a regular bowl that you'd use for soup or cereal? I mean, you could I guess. That wouldn't be a bad choice if your intention is to eat the fruit bowl immediately after it was made. Here's the thing though, you'll want to prepare your fruit bowls in advance. Get them ready to go, so when it's time to take one, you can just grab it from the refrigerator. For that, you'll need something a bit better. It should be big enough to fit all the fruit pieces you want, yet small enough to fit in your lunch box. You need something with a lid. A screw top lid works good. The important thing is that the bowl is sealed so that the fruits remain fresh when you are ready to eat. Make it a nice looking, colorful bowl too. When it comes to having the best fruit bowl, presentation is everything.
